I forgot AppleID or password

Step 1: To get started, go to appleid.apple.com and click Forgot my Apple ID or password in the center of the page? If you chose to answer security questions

1. Reset your ICloud password on an iPhone or iPad

3. Reset your Apple ID password on the Apple ID website

• Go to Apple’s iForgot website.
• Enter your Apple ID and click Continue.
• Enter the phone number that you use with your Apple ID.
• Click Continue again.
• Now a message with instructions will appear on all your trusted devices.
• Click or tap Allow at the Reset Password prompt.
• Enter your iOS password or macOS administrator password and click Continue.
• Then type your new password and then enter it again in the Verify field.
• Click Change or tap Next.
• You have just reset your Apple ID password.

4. Reset your ICloud password through the Find My iPhone application

This method works by using the Find My iPhone app on a device not associated with your Apple ID account. You will need to borrow an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch from a friend or family member and follow these steps.

• Open the Find My iPhone app.
• When a login screen appears, clear the owner’s Apple ID details.
• If necessary, click or tap Sign out.
• On the sign in screen, select I forgot my Apple ID or password, and then follow the onscreen steps.
• Once you’ve changed your password, don’t forget to log out from the owner’s device.
• Now you can re-enter your iCloud password on your other devices. Speaking of Find My iPhone, make sure you know how to locate your iPhone if it gets lost.

If you use 2-step verification

Before two-factor authentication, Apple offered two-step verification. With this, Apple sends a short numeric code using the Find My iPhone system on iOS and via text message to other devices. iforgot.apple id password Macs cannot receive these codes.

This old system also relies on a provided recovery code to prevent it from crashing. If your account is locked for any reason and you lose your recovery code, you may never regain access.

Two-Step Verification is available to people:

To reset an Apple ID protected with 2-Step Verification, you must have a recovery key and a trusted device or phone number. Then follow these steps:

• Go to Apple’s iForgot website.
• Enter your Apple ID and click Continue.
• Select the option to reset your password and press Continue again.
• Enter your recovery code and choose Continue one more time. This is a 14-character code that is generated when you set up 2-Step Verification.
• Then select a trusted device to receive a confirmation code.
• Enter the confirmation code.
• Select a new password, and then click Reset Password.
• According to Apple’s support document on resetting a two-step password, you need at least two of these three items to successfully sign in. One is your Apple ID password, the second is a trusted device, and the third is your recovery key.
• If you have lost two of these items, you will not be able to log in or regain access to your account. Unfortunately, you have no options and therefore you have to create a new Apple ID.
